Robert Balfour, 4th of Balbirnie
Robert Balfour, 4th of Balbirnie (1698 - 1767) was later styled later Robert Balfour-Ramsay of Whitehill after his marriage Anne Ramsay on 3 June 1736.
He was a nobleman from Fife and the son of George Balfour, 3rd of Balbirnie (1664 -1743) and Agnes Lumsdain (daughter of Rober Lumsdain of Strathvinny).[1]
His wife Anne Ramsay was the daughter of Sir Andrew Ramsay of Whitehill, 4th Bart
They had seven children:
- John Balfour, 5th of Balbirnie (1738 - ?) married Ellen Gordon (daughter of James Gordon of Ellon)
- George Balfour, later Ramsay, 15th of Whitehill (1740 - 1806)
- Andrew Balfour, later Ramsay, 16th of Whitehill (1741 - 1814)
- Robert Balfour (1742 - 1807)
- General James Balfour, 17th of Whitehill (1743 - 1823)
- William Balfour(1755 - 1793)
- Elizabeth Balfour (? -?) married Captain William Wardlaw
